Dymally Challengers 14, @ Maranatha Christian Eagles 28

Week six is in the books and two of the better mascots battled on Friday night with the Dymally Challengers coming down from Los Angeles to try and pick up their first win of the season.  Faced the Maranatha Christian Eagles.  A defensive battle initially turned into a pretty good offensive game with MCHS prevailing 28-14 in front of the home fans to run their record to 4-1 on the season.  Dymally falls to 0-5 on the season.

The game started with long drives that resulted in zero points.  Dymally had the pigskin and had a very good drive going and decided to go for it on 4th and 1 and the Eagles defense bowed their necks and flexed their muscles to stop the Challengers short of the first down to turn the ball over on downs.  Eagles next possession they took the pigskin the length of the field all the way into the red zone only to also coincidentally go for it on a 4th and 1 effort to be pushed back and kill that drive to remain scoreless.

The Eagles found their way after that when Senior RB Jake Bronson found his way to the end zone to cap off a drive and the first score of the contest for the Eagles to give MCHS an 8-6, lead they would hold onto for the duration of the evening.  Another senior had a good night as well, Isaac Schwan took a end around on a reverse and scampered 75 yards to the end zone that pushed the Eagles lead to 15-6.
Junior QB for MCHS Christian Cortes then threw a pretty rainbow pass on a post to a wide open Schwan who cruised in from 41 yards out that made it 21-6, they would tack on another touchdown and double up Dymally 28-14.  They will play at Tri-City Christian next Friday night October 9th.

PREVIEW: Another Friday, another Friday night of young men on the gridiron playing tackle football.  Week six Dymally High School makes the long bus ride from Los Angeles with a winless record to face a Maranatha Christian squad that is off to a stellar start to the 2015 season sitting 3-1 so far.  In four games thus far they have scored 104 points.  That’s averages out to just a little over 25 points per game.  Defensively, pretty stout only giving up 35 points in four contests.  Allowing just under 9 points a contest.  That’s going to win you quite a few games, what’s that old saying “Defense wins championships.”

Dymally comes down to sunny San Diego hoping to get on the right side of the ledger for the first time     this year.  They have had a very rough first quarter of the season offensively mustering 93 points in four games that actually is not too shaby, but when you surrender 154 points that equates to 38.5 each game.  Tough to win any games when you allow that many on a regular basis.  The game will kickoff Friday night at 7pm from Maranatha Christian High School.  All the highlights from this game and all the games around the county on KUSI at 10:30pm on the Prep Pigskin Report.  You can also keep tabs on games on Instagram and Twitter.
