Earthquake hits North County

SAN DIEGO (CNS) – A small earthquake hit the desert mountains of North County just before sunrise Saturday, and was felt from the San Diego suburbs to Palm Springs. The earthquake was a 3.3 magnitude, it was reported. 

Preliminary readings from automated earthquake sensors said the quake hit at 6:05 a.m., and was centered about 25 miles south of Indio, or 52 miles northeast of downtown San Diego.

It was reported as slight shaking by people registering the USGS “Did You Feel It” website, and was too small to cause damage.
