East County Game of the Week: Helix 42, vs Ramona 0
After a devastating 9-7 loss to Cathedral Catholic last week that cost Helix their undefeated record, the Highlanders were bound and determined to end Ramona’s perfect record. Helix running back Nate Stinson ran wild with four first half touchdowns as the Highlanders dominated the Ramona Bulldogs 42-0 at Helix high Friday night.
Stinson opened the action with a 47-yard scamper up the middle and untouched for a touchdown, just 2 minutes into the game. Stinson repeated the feat with a 46-yard touchdown run later in the quarter for a 14-0 lead. The Highlander defense forced back to back three and outs by the Bulldog offense to start the game.
Stinson kept on the onslaught, breaking the game open with an 80-yard touchdown run. Then following an interception by defensive back Evan Perkins and a 51-yard pass from quarterback Michael Austin to receiver DaShawn Keirsey, Stinson added a one yard score right before the half to extend the Highlander lead to 28-0 going in to half-time.
The second half remained all Helix, as Scottie Young came up with an interception of his own and Austin hooked up for a 36-yard touchdown pass, this time to Mason Vineyard to make it 35-0. Jihad Woods added a short touchdown run for the game’s final score but it was long since in jeopardy.
Helix will host the (1-3) Bonita Vista Barons next week, while Ramona will look to bounce back at home against Mt. Carmel.
