Week 10 East County Game of the Week: Helix Highlanders 56, Granite Hills Eagles 21
The El Cajon Ford East County Game of the Week takes us to Granite Hills (8-0) as the Eagles take on the Helix Highlanders (5-3) in what seems to be the toughest match up in East County in Week 10.
The Helix Highlanders, coming off a four-game winning streak, and ranked No. 4 on the PPR top 9, takes on an undefeated, stacked Granite Hills team who’s ranked 8 on the PPR Top 9.
The Highlanders moved to the fifth sports on the power rankings, right behind Eastlake, but out of the Open Division playoff setting for now. Don’t worry, the competition will still be beaming Friday night.
The Highlanders biggest threat on offense, junior running back Elelyon Noa, leads the offense with 894 for nine touchdowns.
Quarterback Daniel Amon has two main targets with the passing game, Chris Rivera and Kamryn Brown. The one man standing in the Eagles’ way to a yet another win is Michael Shawcroft, making big plays on offense and defense.
Shawcroft, through eight games, averages 9.7 tackles per game, seven sacks, 15 tackles for loss and one interception for 45 yards which he lateraled for a touchdown.
The Eagles are on an all-time peak, winners of the Grossmont Valley league for the past three seasons, are confident to keep this win streak going with a game at home this week.
Quarterback Cris Ostreng is a quick moving quarterback, giving the offensive players opportunities to stand out and shine. The offensive line no doubt protects their star quarterback like Paul Rudy protects his peanut M&Ms, not letting anyone touch the prestigious prize. Ostreng leads the Eagles in passing yards (1,250) and rushing yards (556). The Eagles have depth and running back and their defense is stacked as well.
It will be a battle out at Granite Hills for what seems to be the toughest matchup in East County in week 10.
