Week 11 East County Game of the Week: Monte Vista Monarchs 35, West Hills Wolf Pack 0
For the first time in fourteen years, the Monte Vista Monarchs win the Grossmont Valley League Championship 35-0 over the West Hills Wolf Pack.
The Monarchs’ first touchdown came in the second quarter with an outstanding run by Jahmon McClendon, a 99-yard touchdown run to be exact and a possible play of the week nomination for the Prep Pigskin Report. The Monarchs recovered their own kick return which soon led to a 19-yard touchdown run by McClendon. Later, Monte Vista makes their way down to the 4-yard line where McClendon ran another touchdown in for a 21-0 lead. Later in the second quarter, who other than Jahmon McClendon with the touchdown, he takes this one 75 yards for the 28-0 lead.
Jump to the middle of the third quarter and, of course, McClendon comes back with another 15-yard touchdown to change the board with a Monarch win of 35-0.
West Hills put up a good fight, but McClendon’s running game just couldn’t be stopped. Jahmon McClendon finishes the night with 378 rushing yards for 5 touchdowns.
West Hills finished their regular season 8-2, while the Monarchs improve to 9-1.

The El Cajon Ford East County Game of the Week takes us to Monte Vista (8-1) as the Monarchs take on the West Hills Wolf Pack (8-1) for not only Week 11 of the Prep Pigskin Report but also for the Grossmont Valley League title. Both teams are undefeated in league play as they head into Friday nights game.
The West Hills Wolf Pack are coming off a win against the Mount Miguel Matadors, 31-16. The Wolf Pack is strong in their run game as shown with their 8-1 record and 3-0 in league play.
Jordin Young leads the offense at quarterback and has recorded 738 passing yards for 12 touchdowns. Young is also quick on his feet with 838 rushing yards for 10 rushing touchdowns already under his belt.
Having Nathan Jones anchoring the center, Jake Maheu dominating at fullback and linebacker, and having Harrison Pattengill lead the defensive line, the Wolf Pack is stacked up the middle on both sides of the ball.
On the other side of the ball, The Monte Vista Monarchs are coming off a win 56-13 over El Cajon Valley.
The Monarchs also relies on their run game giving the ball to Jahmon McClendon basically every single play. The senior running back is UCLA bound next season.
Monte Vista also has Kenny Stevens at quarterback. Stevens transitioned from wide receiver to quarterback this season and his fast-paced mobility sets up many opportunities for play-action pass plays that lead to scoring.
The winner of this matchup will be the outright Grossmont Valley League Champion.
