East County Game of the Week: Granite Hills Eagles 27, Ramona Bulldogs 14
It was a battle between two fan vote finalist quarterbacks tonight out at Granite Hills as the Eagles hosted the Ramona Bulldogs, but in the end the Eagles soared their way into another victory beating the Bulldogs 27-14.
In the first quarter, Granite Hills the first to get on the board as fan vote finalist, Cris Ostreng,. with the quarterback keeper runs in all the way to the 19 yard line for a 71 yard gain leading to a 5 yard touchdown run and a 7-0 lead. Later in the first, Ostreng finds James Johnson who runs it in for the score, a 50 yard touchdown pass to be exact. The point after touchdown ruled no good, but the Eagles still take the lead 13-0.
Jump to the second quarter where Bulldogs quarterback Derek Diamond, also a fan vote finalist, scrambles to find Ace Jones in the end zone for the 37 yard touchdown pass and a change of score 13-7. Later in the second, Ostrengs pass intercepted by Riley Colvin but seconds later, Colvin fumbles the ball and the Eagles would recover the fumble and get the ball back, but suffers from a 29 yard gain. Granite Hills work their way down the field and Ostreng runs the ball from the 4 yard line and leading 20-7 at the half.
In the third quarter, Granite Hills Cris Ostreng finds Dylan Rutter for the 32 yard touchdown. Ramona answers right back as Derek Diamond runs basically the same play as their first touchdown, Diamond finds wide open Ace Jones as they score their second touchdown of the night and it would be their last as Granite Hills takes the win 27-14.

The Ramona Bulldogs have been in this position before, losing to Steele Canyon in the 2017 Division II title game. The Bulldogs head into this game with the motivation that they have some unfinished business to straighten out. Ramona is coming into this game with a win against Olympian 45-24. Senior running back Sean McDonald is the one the Bulldogs turn to inorder to get the ball down the field fast and gets their offense going early. McDonald, ranked No. 8 in the county for rushing yards, had a total of 1183 rushing yards for 11 rushing touchdowns.
However, the Bulldogs have their work cut out for them with the No. 1 ranked Granite Hills Eagles who enter the post season 9-1. The Eagles had a bye for the first round of the playoffs, coming into this game fresh and ready to run past the Bulldogs. Cris Ostreng leads the offense at quarterback and enters into his first postseason as the Eagles quarterback, and playing his first full season as quarterback for the Eagles. Granite Hills only loss this season is to Helix.
