East County Game of the Week: Steele Canyon 25, Vista 7

Dominick Wood-Anderson made a joyful return to the field for Steele Canyon, throwing an early touchdown pass after his appendix burst and left him hospitalized to start off the season. The Cougars moved to 3-0 on the season as the defense kept the Vista Panthers off the board until the fourth quarter in a 25-7 victory.

A defensive struggle, Wood-Anderson broke the tie with a 46 yard touchdown pass to Rosevelt Johnson. The PAT was blocked and Alex Raya added a 46 yard field goal to take a 9-0 lead in the half.

Special teams made an appearance Vista muffed a punt and it was recovered by Ny Johnson of Steele Canyon.. That set up a short field for the offense as Malcom Anderz finished the drive with an 11 yard touchdown to make it 16-0 Cougars.

Raya added a 40 yard field goal in the fourth to make it 19-0.Vista drove deep into Cougar territory with a Davin Lemon-Rodriguez pass down the sideline to a diving Nate Johnson, but drive stopped short by an amazing Willie Fair interception as he sprung off the turf. The turnover led to a Pierre Alexander 53 yard to seal the dealVista avoided the shut out with a late touchdown, but the game was already out of reach. Vista will look to right the ship at Carlsbad next week, as Steele Canyon will attempt to keep their undefeated season in tact at home against Rancho Buena Vista.
