West Hills 24, Granite Hills 21
Living up to expectations the East County Game of the Week turned into a thriller late in a big division rivalry. West Hills’ senior standout Raphy Carr caught 9 passes for 149 yards and two touchdowns this week, extending a 5-game winning streak as the Wolf Pack defeated the Granite Hills Eagles 24-21. It took a marvelous comeback as the Eagles jumped out to an early 14-0 lead.
Granite Hills quarterback Seth Collins, who is on the Prep Pigskin Silver watch list, broke away on a back to back possessions, hurdling a defender and showing us all why he’s considered one of the best in the county.
Wolf Pack junior quarterback Spencer Moyer responded with a 37-yard touchdown run of his own and connected with Carr to take control of the game at 21-14. A 27-yard field in the fourth quarter extended the lead to 10.
Collins found senior receiver Michael Ladesma inside the five-yard line and the Eagles cut the lead to 3. With seconds left, Collins fired a pass deep into Wolf Pack territory but a collision popped the ball up into the air and it was intercepted by West Hills to seal the victory, 24-21.
Granite Hills (5-2) will hit the road to face Monte Vista (5-3), while West Hills (6-2) will take on Santana (3-4) on Halloween night.
