East County man pleads not guilty in bounty case
EL CAJON (CNS) – An East County man accused of offering a $3,000 bounty for the “dead or alive” capture of his teenage daughter's sex-offender boyfriend pleaded not guilty Tuesday to solicitation of murder and other charges.
Domingos Jose Oliveira, 49, was ordered held on $250,000 bail.
He was arrested last Friday morning at his Spring Valley home, several hours after a search warrant was served at the Roadside Place residence, according to La Mesa police.
Oliveira's 19-year-old daughter and her 33-year-old boyfriend, a registered sex offender, reported him to authorities after he allegedly posted several homemade “reward” signs at Grossmont College in La Mesa, LMPD Lt. Dan Willis said.
The placards bore the boyfriend's name and photo and offered the cash bounty “for the (man's) body … dead or alive,” according to Willis.
In addition to solicitation of murder, Oliveira is charged with two counts of making a criminal threat and faces 11 years in prison if convicted, prosecutors said.
A readiness conference was set for April 7 and a preliminary hearing for April 12.
