Week 10: Eastlake Titans 28, Olympian Eagles 3

The Eastlake Titans came into Olympian high and mighty as they were able to pull off the 28-3 victory. The Titans improve to 8-1 on the season while the Eagles drop to 2-7.

It was all defense on both ends as the Eagles held the Titans off of the scoreboard during the first half.

The only points going into halftime came from a 36-yard field goal made by Eagles kicker Erik Duarte.

Unfortunately, Olympian struggled to put any more points on the board. The Eagles will travel to Southwestern College next week to take on the Bonita Vista Barons with hopes of finishing the season strong with a victory.

The Titans came into Olympian determined to upset their senior night and they did just that.

After not being able to score during the first half, the Titans came out after halftime with enough energy to power their way to a victory.

As Olympian was on the verge of scoring, Eastlake’s AJ Hernandez came up with a huge interception in the end zone to prevent the Eagles from scoring.

Then, in the third quarter, Darius De Los Reyes ran it in for a 447-yard touchdown.

The Titans will welcome the Otay Ranch Mustangs next week as they look to remain in the top 10 standings and remain the dominant powerhouse in the South Bay.

PREVIEW

For this week 10 matchup in the South Bay we have the Eastlake Titans (7-1) taking on the Olympian Eagles (2-6) for a conference game.

The Titans are coming off of an electric win under the lightning as they were able to defeat the Bonita Vista Barons by a final score of 49-7. Coach McFadden and his squad did not let the inclement weather stop them from handling business in week 9 and they hope to keep the momentum rolling into Friday night. Sophomore Richard Colmenero III was able to throw for 189 yards and tallied 3 passing touchdowns. Colmenero had help from junior Darius De Los Reves as he rushed for a 70 yard touchdown and senior Roman Coe was able to run for 2 touchdowns.

On the other side of the ball the Olympian Eagles are looking to finish the year strong as they look to upset the Titans and earn their third win of the season. The Eagles were able to defeat the Mater Dei Crusaders 35-7 last week and they look to win the last three games of the season under the leadership of head coach Paul Van Nostrand.

Be sure to tune into KUSI every Friday night at 10:45pm for the “1st and 15” followed immediately by the PPR at 11pm.
