Egger Highlands bank robbed

SAN DIEGO (CNS) – A bearded thief who claimed to have a concealed pistol robbed an Egger Highlands bank Tuesday.

The man handed a demand note to a teller at the Wells Fargo branch office in the 600 block of Saturn Boulevard in San Diego about 9:30 a.m., according to the FBI. The message stated that he was armed with a gun, though none was seen, the federal agency reported.

After the employee turned over an undisclosed amount of cash, the bandit left the bank and fled the area on foot to the west on Palm Avenue, over Interstate 5.

Witnesses described him as a roughly 5-foot-9-inch, 185-pound white or Hispanic man with brown hair, mustache and full beard. He was wearing jeans, a long-sleeve blue button-down shirt and white tennis shoes.
