El Cajon murder remains unsolved after 15 years
EL CAJON (KUSI) – An El Cajon murder remains unsolved, even upon its 15th anniversary.
Jeffrey Ross, 25, was walking along First and Decker streets with his girlfriend on this week 15 years ago when a robbery suspect appeared. Before Ross could take out his wallet, police say the suspect fired six rounds into Ross’ chest, killing him.
His girlfriend had $600 in cash on her that the robber never got.
“There isn’t a day that goes by I don’t think of him,” says mother Christine Ross.
Ross’ family say they believe he was murdered as part of a gang initiation.
El Cajon police say in the 24 hours before Ross’ murder the suspect and an accomplice pulled off a string of 5 robberies, including one where investigators say a gun was pointed at a pregnant woman.
