El Cajon officer saves disabled woman from trailer fire

EL CAJON (KUSI) – An El Cajon police officer saved the lives of a disabled woman and her son when a fire broke out in the back bedroom of a trailer.

By the time the officer reached the victim he found her on a bed, which was beginning to catch fire. He was helping her up when he realized she was an amputee.

The officer was able to get her to safety, but she suffered smoke inhalation and her son suffered third-degree burns to his hand from trying to put out the flames.

They were both transported to the UCSD burn center.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
