El Cajon Police Department hosting learning event for teens

The Teen Academy is an interactive academy where teens can learn about the El Cajon Police Department and how it operates on a daily basis to serve the community.

They will also learn about Law enforcement related careers like being a police officer, police dispatcher, forensic lab technician, records, and the property and evidence.

There are demo days where they will see demonstrations by the SWAT team, K-9 Unit, crime scene investigations, emergency vehicle operations and more.

Teen academy attendees participate in a group community project and receive credit community service hours.

Applications are available to El Cajon teens from the school resource officers at Granite Hill HS, Grossmont HS, Chaparral HS/Idea Center HS, and El Cajon Valley HS, Additional applications are at the El Cajon Police Department at the front desk.
