Emergency landing of plane near Carmel Valley Road

CARMEL VALLEY (KUSI) – A pilot was being re-certified by another pilot with Plus One Flight School when they began experiencing major engine failure.

They took off from Palomar Airport in Carlsbad and were flying to Gillespi Field in El Cajon, when they found a level open field to land safely.

The Cessna 170 was not visibly damaged in the landing, and the two individuals involved did not report any injuries.

All roads are now open and traffic can get through.
