Escondido doctor arrested on suspicion of sexually assaulting patients
ESCONDIDO (KUSI) – An Escondido doctor was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of sexually assaulting a patient on whom he performed surgery at a Temecula hospital.
According to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, 44-year-old John Francis McGuire was booked into the Southwest Detention Center in Murrieta on a $3 million bail.
Sgt. Dean Spivacke said McGuire first came under suspicious last month after a woman accused him of an unspecified procedure at Temecula Valley Hospital, but her identify and details regarding the alleged assault were disclosed.
Sheriff’s detectives spent several weeks investigating the case and "uncovered evidence which supported the victim’s allegations,” Spivacke said.
McGuire, an ear, nose and throat specialist, has a practice in the Graybill Medical Center at 225 E. Second Ave. in Escondido.
He was taken into custody without incident.
According to the California Medical Board, McGuire has been a practicing otolaryngologist since 2005. He graduated from the Georgetown University School of Medicine two years earlier.
State records showed no disciplinary actions or malpractice judgments against the suspect.
