Escondido police searching for attempted kidnapping suspect

ESCONDIDO (CNS) – Police in Escondido have released a sketch of a man suspected of grabbing a 22-year-old woman and pulling her toward a car in an apparent kidnapping attempt.

The woman was walking to work in the 800 block of Bennett Street near El Norte Parkway about 8:10 a.m. Saturday, according to Escondido police Lt. Christopher Wynn.

She was approached by a man who grabbed her around her waist and pulled her toward a light blue, four-door 1990s Honda sedan parked in a driveway of a vacant house. The man told her to “Get in.”

The victim screamed and the suspect fled, running into the back yard of the residence, Wynn said. The woman ran from the scene but saw the suspect speed away in the Honda. The woman was not injured.

The suspect was described as a clean shaven white man in his early 30s, with a medium to dark skin tone, a chunky face and dark circles under his eyes. He was about 5 feet-8 inches tall with a medium build and wore a white sweatshirt with the hood pulled over his head, black shorts and Nike running shoes.

Police urged anyone with information about the incident to contact them at (760) 839-4410.
