Fallbrook car dealership burglarized

FALLBROOK (CNS) – A 19-year-old man was behind bars Monday following a break-in at a Fallbrook car dealership, but a second suspect remained at large.

Sheriff’s deputies were tipped off to the burglary at the US Auto Market at 1535 S. Mission Road shortly before midnight. They arrived as the suspects were running from the building, sheriff’s Detective Steve Ashkar said.

The lawmen gave chase and caught up with one of the two suspects — later identified as Raul Eduardo Rios of Fallbrook, Ashkar said. But the second suspect evaded arrest.

Rios and his accomplice allegedly forced their way into the dealership’s business office and moved a safe into the lobby near the front door, the detective said. The safe was not opened and nothing was taken, he said.

Sheriff’s detectives were working to identify the second suspect, according to Ashkar, who asked anyone with information to call the sheriff’s department at (858) 565-5200, or Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-8477.
