Farmers Insurance Open Champions for Youth
SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – The Farmers Insurance Open tournament begins Jan. 24th in San Diego and 10 local non-profit organizations have been selected as beneficiaries.
Champions for Youth is the primary charitable program of The Century Club of San Diego, which is the administrative organization behind San Diego’s PGA TOUR event, the Farmers Insurance Open. The Champions for Youth charities will fundraise from now until the last day of the Farmers Insurance Open, January 27, vying to earn bonus funds
Words Alive was asked to serve as the beneficiary spokespersons to tell their story and benefits from the Farmers and Century Club.
Words Alive works with K-3 and teens and helps those without the benefits of additional assistance to better read and learn. Schools like Monarch and so many others here who are in such need for assistance with young people who are not reading and comprehending.
They work with United Way, Boys and Girls Clubs and Country School System to set up programs on their own and teach kids reading.
According to Words Alive they are currently in over 130 Classrooms within San Diego County Schools, 400 volunteers who hands on read with kids and over 4,000 student per week are assisted by the non-profit.
