Fashion Valley gas leak turned off, crews repairing damaged pipe

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – 5:45 p.m. – According to the San Diego Fire Department, the gas has been turned off. 

Crews are expected to repair the broken pipe around 7 p.m. Thursday night. 

The Cheesecake Factory had to close their kitchen, but are reportedly still serving "cold items." 

No one was asked to evacuate. 

5:02 p.m. – A gas leak was reported Thursday afternoon behind the Cheesecake Factory in Fashion Valley.

According to officials, a construction company broke a two-inch gas main near the parking structure.

Guests at the restaurant were told to shelter in place for the time being.

Crews expected the gas to be shut off in the next 20 to 30 minutes.
