Fatal accident on SR-94 closes all lanes

JAMUL (KUSI) – 5:09 p.m. – Authorities reported the one death was of a 75-year-old male, who’s name was withheld pending family notification.

The crash involved an eastbound Chevrolet Blazer which drifted across a left-turn lane near Marlena Way and struck an oncoming Toyota Sienna taxi head-on.

The driver of the Blazer died at the scene of the wreck. Medics took the 45-year-old driver of the commercial van and his two passengers to Sharp Memorial Hospital in San Diego for treatment of minor injuries, CHP public-affairs Officer Kevin Pearlstein said.

2:54 p.m. – Fatal accident on State Route 94 closed both sides of the roadway near Marlena Way. Traffic was detoured onto Steele Canyon Rd. and Singer Lane.

The crash was a head-on collision between a SUV and a taxi minivan.

One person was killed and three others were seriously injured.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident occurred at approximately 1 p.m. on State Route 94.   

The accident left the east-west roadway blocked in both directions through mid-afternoon, with traffic detours onto nearby Steele Canyon Road and Singer Lane.
