Fatal hit-and-run in Chula Vista, police search for driver who killed 62-year-old

CHULA VISTA (KUSI) — Police in Chula Vista Monday are seeking public help to find a driver who killed a 62-year-old man in a hit-and-run crash.
The crash happened around 10 p.m. Sunday near Moss Street and Fourth Avenue in Chula Vista. The victim’s identity was being withheld pending family notification.
The victim reportedly lost a leg in the crash but was still alive when emergency crews arrived, according to reporters on scene. Paramedics reportedly applied a tourniquet and provided other life-saving emergency treatment, but they were unable to save the man.
Police told reporters at the scene that the victim appeared to be entering his vehicle when he was struck by a passing car, possibly a dark gray or silver BMW. A Chula Vista police officer said the suspect vehicle sped away westbound on Moss Street toward Fifth Avenue and Broadway.
