Fatal hit and run

Police in Escondido are seeking the driver of a vehicle that
allegedly struck a pedestrian, who later died.

Escondido Police were notified at 6:45 a.m. Saturday of a male pedestrian who had
been struck by a vehicle in the area of 200 West 10th Avenue east of South
Escondido Boulevard, Escondido Police Lt. Neil Griffin said.

“Officers arrived and found a Hispanic male adult lying in the roadway
unconscious,” Griffin said. `

Griffin said the victim was immediately transported to Palomar Medical
Center where he later died from his injuries.

Police described the suspect vehicle as a dark-colored SUV, possibly a
1990's Isuzu Trooper.

The suspect vehicle was last observed heading eastbound on 10th Avenue,
Griffen said.

Witnesses reported that the victim had been in the company of a female
adult prior to the collision, according to Griffin. “She was not present when
the officers arrived,” Griffin said.
