Father Joe’s Villages to open pharmacy at Village Health Center
SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – Father Joe’s Villages Thursday will hold a grand opening ceremony to open a pharmacy adjacent to the shelter’s medical clinic.
The pharmacy will be open to clients of Father Joe’s and members of the public who are homeless. The facility will assist the medical staff at the Paul Mirabile Village Health Center conveniently provide prescriptions to local homeless residents.
The center provides medical care and services to more than 2,500 patients annually, according to Father Joe’s. In addition to medical and primary care, the Village Health Center offers psychiatric, dental, behavioral health and substance use services.
The organization also launched a mobile medical team in March to treat homeless residents living on the street.
Speakers at the ceremony will include Father Joe’s President and CEO Deacon Jim Vargas, Father Joe’s Medical Director Dr. Jeffrey Norris and a representative from Medical Center Pharmacy, Father Joe’s partner group in opening the on-site pharmacy.
The ceremony is expected to begin at noon.
