Federal agents carry out raids in gun-trafficking case

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – Federal agents served search warrants at various locations in the San Diego area Wednesday as part of a gun-trafficking investigation.

Personnel with the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and FBI carried out the searches Wednesday morning, said Davene Butler, a spokeswoman for the latter agency. Butler said she could provide no further information about the case.

According to multiple broadcast news reports, the targets of the searches included the Jamul home of prominent local jeweler Leo Hamel and his Mission Hills-area store on San Diego Avenue. Hamel’s home is pictured in the video above.
