Federal agents make major synthetic drug bust in Escondido

ESCONDIDO (CNS) – Federal agents today seized large quantities of
synthetic drugs and arrested five young men during raids in Escondido carried
out as part of a national crackdown on the illegal mind-altering substances
popularly called “spice” and “bath salts.”

U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration personnel served search warrants at
a shop called Magic Blends on Auto Park Way and a home on Ryan Road, seizing
boxes full of packages bearing such masquerade labels as “shoe deodorizer” or
“window cleaner,” Amy Roderick of the Drug Enforcement Administration said.

Arrested on suspicion of possessing illegal drugs for sale were
Escondido residents Alan Barillas, 20, Caleb Grissom, 18, Simon Hodge, 18,
