Fire breaks out in Camp Pendleton
CAMP PENDLETON (CNS) – A brush fire blackened about five open acres at Camp Pendleton Tuesday amid gusty Santa Ana conditions, authorities reported.
The flames began spreading across a training area in the southeastern reaches of the base shortly before 11 a.m., according to Marine Corps officials.
There were no reports of structural threats, USMC public-affairs Sgt. Christopher Duncan said.
Several North County civilian firefighting agencies were aiding military crews in dousing the blaze, the sergeant said.
