Fire engulfs National City apartment building

NATIONAL CITY (CNS) – Flames engulfed a two-story apartment in National
City early today, displacing at least one resident and temporarily forcing
several neighbors from their units, but no one was hurt, authorities said.

The fire at 1135 D Ave. was reported at 2:49 a.m. and knocked down about
20 minutes later, according to a San Diego fire-rescue dispatcher.

The cause was under investigation, he said.
