First American dies from Coronavirus in Wuhan, China
WUHAN (KUSI) – An American diagnosed with the Coronavirus has died in Wuhan, China.
According to the US Embassy the 60-year-old American died on Thursday at a hospital in the center of the Coronavirus outbreak.
No other information has been released to respect the victim’s family, but this is the first known US citizen to die from the outbreak.
More than 800 people have died in China, officially surpassing the number of people who died from the 2003 SARS epidemic.
The news comes as China suffers its deadliest day of the virus since it started in December.
Along with the US citizen, a 60-year-old Japanese citizen also died in Wuhan from pneumonia, but is highly suspected of having the Coronavirus.
Three cruise liners off the coast of Asia are quarantined after multiple guests tested positive, and the doctor reprimanded by Chinese officials for warning people early on about the virus has also died friday.
