Five civilians also killed in Nepal helicopter crash
KATHMANDU (KUSI) – The Nepalese army confirmed Friday that five civilians were on the helicopter that crashed as it was delivering aid to the country following a series of earthquakes.
The number of those killed in the crash now rises to 13, including the six Marines and two Nepalese soldiers that were also killed in the crash.
DNA tests conducted by the Nepalese military confirmed that local villagers were on the UH-1 Huey when it went down. It was believed that the six were among the injured that were being transported to medical facilities for aid.
Four of the six Marines killed in the crash were based at Camp Pendleton, while the other two were based in Japan.
