Fleet Readiness Center Southwest celebrated 100 years of Naval Aviation Maintenance Excellence
SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – The Fleet Readiness Center Southwest (FRCSW), located at Naval Air Station North Island San Diego (NASNI), is the birthplace of Naval Aviation Maintenance. The command hosted its 100th year of Naval Aviation Maintenance Excellence celebration on July 26, 2019.
The two-hour event featured a band, proclamations from Congressional Districts 49, 50, 52 and 53, the San Diego County Board of Supervisors, San Diego County Port Commissioners and the Cities of San Diego, Coronado and Chula Vista.
Speakers included Rear Adm. Mike Zarkowski (Commander Fleet Readiness Centers), Capt. Tony Jaramillo (FRCSW Commanding Officer) as well as political figures from the county and cities of Coronado and Chula Vista.
The event is open to all personnel with access to NASNI.
KUSI’s Jason Austell was there and spoke with an expert on F-18 Hornet maintenance, Shane Hanson, about what it takes to maintain one of these aircrafts on Good Morning San Diego.
