Foreign exchange student hospitalized after fall

SAN DIEGO (CNS) – A 25-year-old foreign exchange student was hospitalized Friday after he fell or jumped from a fourth-story window at a youth hostel in Little Italy while under the influence of drugs or alcohol, police said.

The fall at Vantaggio Suites at 1736 State St. was reported at 11:06 p.m. Thursday, according to San Diego police Officer Frank Cali.

He was under the influence of drugs or alcohol, possibly marijuana, at the time of the fall, Cali said, adding that investigators were working to determine whether the fall was intentional or accidental.

Paramedics took the man to a local hospital. The extent of his injuries was unclear, Cali said.
