Former football prep star killed in Oceanside

OCEANSIDE (CNS) – A 22-year-old man was killed and a second male was injured in a predawn shooting in Oceanside Saturday.

The two men were shot just before 5 a.m., in the 1700 block of Kraft Street, near North Canyon Drive, according to police spokesman Leonard Mata.

Justin Nonu, 22, was standing with four others in the driveway of a residence when an unidentified male opened fire on the group from the opposite side of the street, Mata said.

The suspect ran or walked west on Kraft Street and was only described as wearing dark colored clothing.

The name of the wounded person was not released. Police continued to investigate.

Police said Nonu had graduated as a standout football player from Oceanside High School in 2006, and attended the University of Colorado.
