Former Los Angeles mayor campaigns in San Diego in race for governor
SAN DIEGO (KUSI) — He’s not a well-known name among San Diegans, but in the next few months, former Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa is going to be working hard to change that.
He’s running as a Democrat for California governor.
In a campaign swing through San Diego on Friday, Villaraigosa made two stops; at a food bank in Sorrento Valley and at an affordable housing complex in Barrio Logan.
The candidate selected both locations to underscore his message that Calfiornia has lost its luster for too many people who are living in poverty and need.
KUSI’s Sasha Foo asked Villaraigosa to talk about some of his priorities if he is elected to the state’s highest office.
