Francis Parker 58, Horizon 46
Francis Parker’s Khaleel Jenkins scored six rushing touchdowns to lead his Lancers to a 58-46 shootout win over Horizon.
Both offenses needed a long runway to get up to speed, as the score was only 8-7 in favor of Horizon with two minutes left in the second quarter. But after Parker linebacker Matt Wei sacked Panther quarterback Josh Gaudet for a safety to take a 9-8 lead, the two sides traded scores to leave the scoreboard at 16-16 heading into the break.
The scoring frenzy continued in the third quarter. Jenkins sped down the right sideline for a 59-yard scoring run, and the Panthers replied with a 61-yard connection from Gaudet to Christian Arlington to tie it again at 23.
After Jenkins scampered into the endzone from thirteen yards out, Anthony Oseguera ran back the ensuing kickoff four a touchdown — and Horizon converted the two-point try to take a 31-30 lead.
But the Panthers couldn’t find an answer for Jenkins. The senior quarterback added touchdown runs of 40 and 19 yards on the next two Lancer drives, to give him four ground scores in the third quarter alone.
Both teams finish the regular season at 5-5, and will hope to carry their offensive firepower into next week’s opening playoff matchups.
