Fugitive wanted in Texas arrested in San Diego

SPRING VALLEY (CNS) – A fugitive wanted on a murder charge out of Texas was captured Friday in a canyon in eastern San Diego County, a sheriff's official reported.

Deputies and state parole agents were searching for the suspect when they spotted him in an open area off Jamacha and Sweetwater Springs boulevards in Spring Valley shortly before 9:30 a.m., Lt. Jim Walker said.

After making contact with the man and determining that he was suffering from a possible broken foot, an emergency-services helicopter was sent to the area to pick him up and take him to a hospital, the lieutenant said.

It was unclear how the suspect was injured. His name and details on the homicide case against him were not immediately available.
