Gang fight leads to car crash in Imperial Beach
IMPERIAL BEACH (CNS) – A fight between two rival gangs in Imperial Beach led to the injury of one man when the white Cadillac he was driving struck several parked vehicles as he tried to run over rivals, a sheriff’s sergeant said Sunday.
The incident occurred at 4:28 p.m. Saturday at 750 Seacoast Drive, said Sgt. Leonel Gurrola.
“Imperial Beach deputies responded to a report of several males fighting and a possible vehicle versus pedestrian hit and run,” Gurrola said.
“When deputies arrived they contacted three males who had sustained minor injuries. Two of the males were being detained by citizens and the other injured male was found in the street near a damaged white Cadillac,” he said.
Witnesses told deputies two rival gangs fought at Dunes Park and that three men got into a white Cadillac and tried to run over several rivals. The Cadillac crashed into several parked vehicles and became inoperable, Gurrola said. Driver Jesus Herrera, 24, collapsed nearby, he said. Josue Flores and Stanley Flores were detained by witnesses.
Herrera was treated for minor injuries at UC San Diego, Gurrola said. No arrests have been made but the investigation continues, he said.
