Gang shooting in Normal Heights leaves one injured
SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – A 22-year-old man was wounded in a gang-related shooting in Normal Heights, police said Monday.
The victim was issued a gang challenge, then got involved in a physical altercation with at least two people in the 4500 block of Cherokee Avenue near Monroe Avenue around 6:10 p.m. Sunday, San Diego police Sgt. David Jennings said.
At some point during the fight, one suspect pulled a handgun and shot the victim in his arm, Jennings said. He was taken to a hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
Police described the gunman as Hispanic, in his 20s and dressed in dark clothing. He was last seen running away from the scene.
