San Diego County gas prices continue to decrease
SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – Sunday – The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in San Diego County dropped Sunday to its lowest amount since Feb. 8, 2015, decreasing 1.2 cents to $2.64.
The average price has dropped 31 of the past 32 days, decreasing a total of 42.3 cents during that time, including 1.6 cents on Saturday.
The average price is 6.9 cents less than it was a week ago and 42.1 cents less than it was one month ago but 3.6 cents higher than it was one year ago.
Friday – The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in San Diego County dropped Friday to its lowest amount since Feb. 9, 2015, decreasing nine-tenths of a cent to $2.668.
The average price has dropped 29 of the past 30 days, decreasing a total of 39.5 cents during that time.
The average price is 5.4 cents less than it was a week ago and 38.9 cents less than it was one month ago, but 14.2 cents higher than it was one year ago.
"The daily price reductions at the pump are slowing down, suggesting that local area prices will soon be impacted by increased costs at refineries as they shut units for maintenance and begin producing the more expensive summer blend of gasoline mandated by state air quality requirements," said Jeffrey Spring, the Automobile Club of Southern California’s corporate communications manager.
"Although the summer blend is not required to be sold until April 1, refineries typically begin making it at least a month ahead to build up supply, while tapering off production of the winter blend."
Thursday – The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in San Diego County dropped Thursday to its lowest amount since Feb. 10, 2015, decreasing 1.2 cents to $2.677.
The average price has dropped 28 of the past 29 days, decreasing 38.6 cents, including seven-tenths of a cent on Wednesday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.
The average price is 6.7 cents less than a week ago and 37.3 cents lower than one month ago, but 18.5 cents higher than one year ago.
