Gas prices continue rising across San Diego County

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – Gas prices continue to rise across San Diego County, seeing inflation for the 21st time in 22 days. The average price of a gallon of gas is now $2.705. The long streak of gas becoming more expensive has resulted in prices rising 36.5 cents in that same stretch, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.

"Gas prices around the U.S. are rising rapidly as demand increases while oil prices climb higher,” Jeffrey Spring, the Automobile Club of Southern California’s corporate communications manager, said.

The average price is 11.8 cents higher than it was last week, rising 23.5 cents from one month ago. Gas is, however, 66.1 cents cheaper than one year ago. Prices saw a significant drop over a 50-day period last year that brought the cost down to the lowest average since Apr. 7, 2009.
