Gas prices continue to drop, marking the 33rd decrease in a month
SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – The average price of a gallon of regular gasoline dropped 3.1 cents Friday, marking the 33rd decrease in 36 days.
According to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service, the average price has dropped 54.4 cents over the past month.
According to Allison Mac, a West Coast petroleum analyst for GasBuddy.com, which bills itself as the nation’s leading provider of retail fuel pricing information and data, the average price is 11.5 cents less than one week ago, 50.4 cents lower than one month ago and 14.5 cents below what it was one year ago.
"It’s been a wild ride for gas prices this summer due to supply uncertainty,” said Jeffrey Spring, the Automobile Club of Southern California’s corporate communications manager. "The volatility makes it more important than ever for consumers to be aware of the lowest-priced stations near them, or to shop around before filling up by using gas price apps.”
