Gas prices drop again after week-long rise

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in San Diego County dropped one-tenth of a cent Monday to $2.89, the third consecutive decrease after increasing six times in seven days.

The average price is nine-tenths of a cent more than a week ago, primarily because of a 1.2-cent increase Thursday, the largest daily increase since Aug. 14, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.

However, the average price is 9.7 cents less than one month ago and 34.6 cents lower than one year ago thanks to a stretch of 74 decreases in 77 days that ended on Oct. 31.
