“Gig Cities Gaming for Good” charity video game tournament in East Village

EAST VILLAGE (KUSI) – Presented by Cox Communications, “Gig Cities Gaming for Good” will mark a technology milestone for the San Diego region. Nearly 100 percent of the cities serviced by Cox now offer gigabit speeds for residents, making San Diego one of the first “Gig Counties” in America.

Mayor Kevin Faulconer, County Supervisor Kristin Gaspar, La Mesa Council Member Colin Parent and representatives from Chula Vista and other cities in San Diego County will be on hand at the “Gig Cities Gaming for Good” charity fundraiser, where city representatives will team up with business leaders in a video gaming competition.

Cox Communications will make a donation to local charities on behalf of each team with the winning team earning additional dollars for its local charity. Sam Attisha, Senior Vice President and Region Manager for Cox Communications, will provide an overview of the gigabit build out in San Diego.
