Graduation ceremonies began Saturday at the University of San Diego

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – Graduation ceremonies began Saturday at the University of San Diego, more than 2,200 students are scheduled to graduate.

The commencement began with the awarding of around 460 advanced degrees at the Jenny Craig Pavilion. Roshan Paul, founder of the Amani Institute, will be the guest speaker. Commencement began at 1 p.m.

Bachelor’s degrees will be awarded on Sunday, also at the JCP.

Speaking at the College of Arts and Sciences ceremony at 9 a.m. will be founder and executive director of Los Angeles-based Homeboy Industries, Gregory Boyle.

Beginning at 1 p.m. at the colleges of Business Administration and Engineering, Al Carey, CEO of PepsiCo Americas Beverages, will speak.

“We are proud to honor our graduates, knowing that they have acquired the knowledge, skills, and ethics to be leaders and change makers in their chosen professions,” said USD President Mary Lyons, who will address her last class of graduates before retiring July 31.
