Grand Jury application deadline extended

With less than 75 San Diegans having applied to serve on the County Grand Jury, the San Diego Superior Court has expanded the application deadline as it struggles with a record low submission rate for the Grand Jury.

The new deadline is Friday, January 26th. Every year, the San Diego Superior Court recruits and vets citizens who wish to serve on the County Grand Jury which investigates citizen complaints and acts as a government watchdog.

“Last week when we sent out word of a low application rate, we did have a number of people apply to serve on the Grand Jury. We still need applicants from our North and South County so we are holding the applicant period open a little longer,” says Michael Roddy who supervises the Grand Jury recruitment effort.
