Graphic Video: Police searching for suspect in robbery at MTS trolley platform on Harbor Drive

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – Authorities Thursday are seeking help in identifying two suspects wanted in connection with a violent assault and robbery of a 19- year-old man at a Barrio Logan trolley station in April.

A surveillance video released Wednesday shows a man and a woman walking onto the trolley platform at 1910 Harbor Drive during the April 18 incident that happened between 7:30 p.m. and 8 p.m.

The man walked up to the victim, who was sitting on a bench looking at his cell phone, and punched the victim in the face unprovoked. The suspect then wrestled the victim to the ground while a woman walked by and grabbed the victim’s backpack from the bench.

The victim suffered several facial injuries, including cuts and a missing tooth, police said.

Following the attack, the suspects were last seen walking northbound on Cesar Chavez Parkway.

San Diego County Crime Stoppers offered a $1,000 reward for information leading to an arrest in the case.

Police described the man who punched the victim as a white or Hispanic man in his 20s, between 5 feet 8 inches and 6 feet with a medium build. He wore tan pants, a black t-shirt and a camouflage baseball hat, possibly adorned with the Peanuts cartoon character Snoopy. Police believe the suspect’s right hand, the one used to punch the victim, may have been wrapped or bandaged.

The backpack thief was described as a white or Hispanic woman in her 20s, about 5 feet 4 inches to 5 feet 6 inches with a heavy build. She wore black leggings, a black shirt and a black Quicksilver baseball cap.

San Diego County Crime Stoppers are searching long with investigators from the San Diego Police Department’s Central Division are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying and locating two suspects who violently assaulted and robbed an adult male while he was sitting at the MTS trolley platform, located at 1910 Harbor Drive in San Diego.

On April 18, 2018, between 7:30 p.m. and 8:00 p.m., the 19-year-old victim was sitting on a bench at the Harbor Drive trolley platform looking at his cell phone. A female and male suspect walked onto the trolley platform and began casing the victim. The male suspect walked toward the victim and without provocation or warning, punched the victim once in the face. The male suspect then grabbed the victim and threw him on the ground. While the victim was on the ground, the female suspect calmly walks over to the bench and takes the victim’s backpack. Both suspects were last seen walking northbound on Cesar Chavez Parkway.

The victim suffered several facial lacerations and lost a tooth as a result of being punched.

Suspect #1
White or Hispanic male, early to late 20’s, approximately 5’8” to 6’0” tall, medium build, wearing tan pants, black t-shirt, camouflage baseball style hat (possibly with a Peanuts cartoon – “Snoopy” character on it). His right hand was possibly wrapped in some type of bandage.

Suspect #2
White or Hispanic female, early to late 20’s, approximately 5’4” to 5’6” tall, heavy build, wearing black leggings, black shirt and black Quicksilver brand baseball style hat.
