Gray Whale spotted in San Diego Bay

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – The KUSI Sky-Eye Chopper helicopter spotted a whale in the San Diego Bay near Shelter Island Monday.

The gray whale was first noticed off Ballast Point in the ocean near the entrance to the bay and was caught frolicking in the bay at around 11 a.m. by reporter Phil Konstantin of Total Traffic Networks. By 11:30 a.m., the whale made its way out of the bay and headed south.

According to WhaleRoute, gray whales tend to be most densely found breeding in the warmer water of Mexico from December to April.
