Grossmont High School dedicates memorial bench to Ryan Wilcox

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) — Just two days after what would have been his 20th birthday, Grossmont High School has officially dedicated a bench in honor of Ryan Wilcox.

The bench is meant to memorialize Ryan and the love he had for his school and the love community showed when he got sick.

Ryan attended Grossmont High School while he battled cancer. Wilcox’s battle with cancer was one that started when he was a toddler, but after years of it being in remission, he was diagnosed with Leukemia.

Wilcox made national headlines in May of last year when he was visited by three cast members of the “Avengers” movies. Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Evans visited Ryan at his El Cajon home after reading about him on social media.

He ended up getting a surprise visit from Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr., and Gwenyth Paltrow, who portray members of the Marvel Universe.

Anyone wishing to donate to the Ryan Wilcox Scholarship fund can do so HERE.
