Gun scare at Vista High was false alarm
VISTA (CNS) – A report that a student was possibly carrying a gun at
Vista High School Tuesday prompted a nearly 90-minute lockdown of the campus
until authorities determined that no such threat existed.
An unidentified caller reported the possible presence of a firearm at
the school shortly after 12:30 p.m., sheriff's Lt. Dave Brown said.
Authorities secured students inside their classrooms while deputies
searched the campus, finding no weapons, Brown said.
The lockdown was lifted shortly before 2 p.m.
Investigators were trying to determine who made the emergency call, the
lieutenant said.
