H Street extension project in Chula Vista set to break ground
CHULA VISTA (CNS) – The Port of San Diego will hold a groundbreaking
ceremony Wednesday morning for the $7.2 million extension of H Street out to the
Chula Vista waterfront.
The new stretch of roadway, when complete in about one year, will run
between Bay Boulevard and Marina Parkway and connect the marina to the main
streets on the west side of town.
The extension is part of an overall set of projects to improve the South
Bay city's waterfront. The projects included the implosion of the old South
Bay Power Plant last February.
The list also includes the relocation of a San Diego Gas & Electric
substation. The move was approved by the state Public Utilities Commission last
month. It still needs the approval of the California Coastal Commission.
